Epic snowboards has been open for just over four weeks.. yes, its right next to a scooter shop, but who the hell cares.. these guys have been shredding for years.. justin fisher, whom is the owner, went snowboarding for the first time last year.. he fell in love with making turns, and in turn, through down.. he hired dutch rutherford whom brings 15+ years of experience shredding and working in the industry.. along, with a staff that brings experience and super duper enthusiasm, they have built one of the freshest shops to open in the portland area.. they have plans, big plans.. art shows, rail jams, and a possible indoor skate park.. these guys are also taking a f#*% you approach to marketing.. no newspaper adds, tv commercials, billboards or any of that corporate bull.. they have a street team handing out patches.. thats right patches.. like we're back in the late 80's.. homemade hand stamped patches.. hand made media, spray paint, stamps, markers, the usual..
Along with a grass routes marketing scheme.. they are focusing on supporting portland.. come check out lunatik, locally owned and run street wear.. grenade, betty rides..
and more to come.. dutch, talks specifically about the power of supporting the smaller local scene rather than selling the large corporate stuff..(did i mention one of the biggest showings of rome in town)
Don't forget that they already have a rippin team, leading with rome sponsored rider jeff rudinski, ryan faulk, and adam fleck
All in all these guys are new, but are coming out of the gates blazin away on dual six shooters, drinkin beer, shreddin and having a hell of a lot of fun doing it..
stop in and say hi, you'll most likely walk away with a red bull some patches and a pep talk on supporting the local economy..
Oh ya and they have nothing to do with other epic stuff out there.. they are not affiliated with the short lived board company or the shop in the couv, they remain epic in their own way, pushing it to the limit..
